Modern smartphones from the related brands Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO are charged primarily via the proprietary HyperCharge protocol, which is known for its high power, reaching 300W, and for using proprietary USB-A - USB-C cables capable of carrying high current, up to 10A and above.
Over time, Xiaomi added support for the PD protocol to its HyperCharge chargers, most often with power up to 65W. When using the original cable, such a charger can be used to charge, for example, a laptop or smartphones from other brands, including Apple.
Xiaomi also developed Surge Charge technology based on PD-PPS. You may also encounter the name MiPPS. Xiaomi allowed third-party manufacturers to implement Surge Charge in their chargers and cables. If the Surge Charge protocol is implemented in a charging adapter, it can be activated even when using regular, non-proprietary USB-C - USB-C cables. If the cable is capable of carrying 5A current, that is, it has a 100W or 240W rating, the charging power of a compatible smartphone can reach 100W. At the same time, there are also USB-C - USB-C cables with 6A and Surge Charge support that can deliver up to 120W of power to compatible smartphones.
In addition to Surge Charge, modern smartphones of the discussed brands also support the widespread PD, PPS, and QC charging protocols, however the charging power is not comparable to Surge Charge or HyperCharge, although it may still be acceptable.
A vivid example of a third-party company that has adapted and widely uses Surge Charge in its products is CUKTECH.
CUKTECH produces quality chargers that work reliably under load. Some models, for example, CUKTECH 100W 2C1A or CUKTECH 15 140W 3C1A, support the reset-free function, which is especially convenient for multi-port chargers. This function prevents interruption of power to the connected device at the moment when you connect or disconnect a second device.
CUKTECH charging adapters are convenient because of their versatility, since they allow charging devices from other brands, including Apple, Samsung, Google, and HONOR, using many different protocols, for example, PD, PPS, AFC, SFC, FCP, QC, and others.
In addition to charging adapters, CUKTECH also produces excellent USB-C - USB-C cables compatible not only with the PD 3.1 240W standard, but also with 6A support for Surge Charge. This makes it possible to charge compatible Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones at up to 120W. Quite often, such a cable can be obtained together with a charging adapter, but they are also sold separately as well (example).
Thus, owners of modern Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones should pay attention to products from the CUKTECH brand. This will make it possible to use a modern multi-port adapter for the fastest possible charging not only of their smartphone at up to 120W, if the device supports such charging power, but also, for example, of laptops and smartphones from other brands. This is especially convenient when traveling, when you want to reduce the number of chargers in your luggage.
I wish your smartphone had fast and stable charging!
