Apple fast charge protocol
Despite Apple using USB ports in power adapters at the beginning, they are using the proprietary protocol Apple 2.4A, and it's out of USB standard.
However, since the 18W charger (A1695), Apple chargers use the universal USB PD charging protocol and can charge third-party devices as well as Apple devices, and can be charged from third-party USB PD chargers.
Apple does not produce specialized PD chargers designed only for smartphones or only for laptops; any charger compatible with the PD protocol can charge any Apple device.
A detailed list of Apple devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops) with supported voltages and power ratings via the PD protocol can be found on the USB PD protocol page.
