PoweredUSB

 

PoweredUSB, also known as Retail USB, USB PlusPower, USB +Power, and USB Power Plus.

PoweredUSB allows higher-power devices to draw power from the USB host without a separate power supply or external AC adapter.

PoweredUSB is primarily used in point-of-sale (POS) equipment, such as receipt printers, touch monitors, and barcode readers.

 

PoweredUSB connectors use mechanical keying and color coding according to voltage:

  • Gray/Yellow - 5V (7.5-30W)

  • Teal - 12V (18-72W)

  • Red - 24V (55.2-144W)

  • Violet (alternative) - 19V

  • Red (alternative) - 25V

  • Black - alternative marking for voltages above 5V
