SDP, CDP (BC1.2), DCP (BC1.2)

 

All these protocols work with USB-A and USB-C ports.

SDP - standard downstream port.

  • Defined by the USB 2.0 specification

  • Typically found in desktop and laptop computers

  • Support USB data transmission

  • For USB 2.0 it provides 0.1A when connected and 0.5A when configured for high power.

  • For USB3.0 it provides 0.15A when connected and 0.9A when configured for high power.

CDP - charging downstream port (Battery charging (BC)1.2 standard).

  • Higher current USB port

  • Used for PCs, laptops, and other hardware

  • Provides up to 1.5A

  • Support USB data transmission

DCP - dedicated charging port (Battery charging (BC) 1.2 standard).

  • Developed for power sources like USB-chargers

  • Provides up to 1.5A

  • No support USB data transmission​
