UsbC (PD)-DC cables, trigger (decoy) modules

  • USB-C PD to DC adapter(cable) (Amazon) (AliExpress) - I use the 12V and 20V versions of this cable for the purpose of replacing a separate AC power adapter for home appliances with a more reliable USB-C adapter or universal multi-port USB adapter

  • USB-C to DC Cable PD3.1 140W (28V5A)(Amazon) (AliExpress) - 180cm cable 90degree DC jack 5.5*2.5mm

  • USB Type C to DC 20V 3A PD Emulator Trigger silicone cable 1.5m - I have bought this very flexible heat-resistant cable to power my TS100 soldering iron directly from a USB-C multi-port adapter.

  • The PD3.1-DC (5.5x2.5mm jack) cable with voltage switcher deserves special attention. It features built-in voltage, current, and power monitoring, voltage selection buttons (5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 20V, 28V), and a braided nylon sleeve. The cable is 1.5 meters long. It has been tested and works perfectly under full load (140W).

  • UsbC-DC PD trigger (decoy) board(Amazon) (AliExpress) - a small board on which you can use switches to select the desired voltage to be supplied to the DC output (5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 20V). Keep in mind that if the UsbC source cannot supply the desired voltage, the DC output will be supplied with the lowest voltage possible, e.g. if the adapter does not support PD 12V, it will send 9V to the board's input even though the board has requested 12V

  • PDC002 WITRN programmable cable (PD/PPS decoy). The cable can be programmed for various voltages using a programming adapter up to 20V (PD) and 21V (PPS). There is information that the cable is capable of triggering PD3.1 28V and AVS, but testing is necessary to confirm. I have not yet completed testing this cable, information will be added later.
  • PD 3.0/3.1 trigger (decoy) boards. Two versions of this very compact module are available for 5V, 20V, 28V, 36V, 48V, and standard 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 20V. The voltage is selected by shorting one of the four pairs of contacts with a drop of solder. This is a very convenient module if you need a DC power source (positive and negative contacts) with a voltage of 28V and above. The module cannot increase the voltage, it only “negotiates” with the USB-PD charger, which must be capable of providing the selected voltage.

UsbC(PD)-DC laptop adapters

The laptop adapters listed below are used for power supply via the DC port. If your laptop does not require more than 100W of power, you can replace the original power supply with any other that supports the PD3.0 standard or higher and has a power rating of 100W or more, UsbC-UsbC cable with rating 5A (100W) or 240W and the adapter below. I have successful personal experience with adapters for ASUS (4.0-1.35) and Lenovo (slim tip).

  • UsbC-Lenovo slim tip (Amazon) - 20V5A (100W) adapter for Lenovo laptops.

  • USB-C laptop tip. 20V5A-100W. A wide selection of adapters for various laptops.
  • UsbC-Magsafe 2 adapter. This adapter is designed for Apple laptops equipped with the older MagSafe 2 connector. The adapter works, as confirmed by customer reviews and discussions on Reddit. Please note the power rating of the charger (over 60W) and the USB-C to USB-C cable used (100W or 240W).
