Xiaomi HyperCharge, Surge Charge, MiPPS, Mi Fast Charge, SuperCharge Turbo

Competing with OPPO, Xiaomi developed its own fast charging technologies. Early versions were called Mi Fast Charge and SuperCharge Turbo. These technologies are modifications of Qualcomm QC.

Later, Xiaomi developed the proprietary HyperCharge technology, whose production implementations reached 210W.

Battery architecture and power-management design depend on the specific model. HyperCharge support does not by itself imply a mandatory dual-cell battery design.

210W HyperCharge debuted in the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition, introduced on October 27, 2022. In February 2023, Xiaomi also demonstrated 300W wired charging technology.

The HyperCharge protocol is used in Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones.

Xiaomi HyperCharge can be implemented over USB-A or USB-C.

Xiaomi also developed Surge Charge technology based on PPS, also known as MiPPS, making it available for implementation by third-party manufacturers in their chargers and cables (for example, CUKTECH, Candysign, and other manufacturers use it in their charging adapters and cables). This technology supports charging at up to 120W with a compatible 6A USB-C to USB-C cable. With a standard 5A cable (100W or 240W), charging power is limited to 100W.

Xiaomi charging variants and modes:

  • Fast Charge: 10W, 15W, 18W (USB-A - USB-C)

  • SuperCharge Turbo: 33W, 50W, 67W (USB-A - USB-C)

  • HyperCharge 90W (USB-A): 3.6-11V6.1A, 3.6-20V4A, 3.6-20V4.5A (6A USB-A - USB-C proprietary cable required)

  • HyperCharge 100W (USB-A): 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, 20V5A, 3.6-20V5A (USB-A - USB-C 5A proprietary cable required)

  • HyperCharge 120W (USB-A): 5V3A, 9V3A, 11V6A, 20V6A, 5-20V3-6A (USB-A - USB-C 6A proprietary cable required)

  • HyperCharge 120W (USB-C): 5V3A, 9V3A, 11V6.1A, 20V6A (20V3.25A for 110VAC) (proprietary USB-- USB-C cable rated for 6A required)

  • HyperCharge 210W: 5V3A, 9V3A, 11V6A max., 17V10.5A max., 20V10.5A max. (USB-C - USB-C proprietary cable required)

  • HyperCharge 300W: (USB-C - USB-C proprietary cable required)

Notes:

  • Xiaomi phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors support the Qualcomm QC fast charging protocol.

  • Xiaomi smartphones that support Xiaomi HyperCharge can also reach nearly 50W of fast-charging power with third-party USB PD and PD PPS chargers that also support QC.

  • CUKTECH 2 in 1 cable can receive power from a PD charger and charge connected devices, including via Xiaomi Surge Charge.

  • MIIIW CB510 Pro 100W Two-in-One Supercharging Cable (model iCB1013Y) also supports Xiaomi Surge Charge at up to 90W (4.5-20V4.5A), converting power received from a standard PD charger.

➡️If you need a charger or power bank with tested load performance and confirmed charging-protocol support, check this selection of charging adapters.

➡️If you need a USB-C cable for device charging or high-speed data transfer, take a look at the tested cables with measured internal resistance and e-marker chip data.
