vivo/iQOO FlashCharge, Super FlashCharge (VFCP)

 

FlashCharge is a proprietary fast charging technology developed by vivo and used mainly in vivo and iQOO smartphones. VFCP is a proprietary protocol and requires support from both the smartphone and the charger.

In 2019, vivo demonstrated its 120W Super FlashCharge technology, and in January 2020 the company filed a trademark application for the Super FlashCharge name. The 120W implementation uses a dual-cell battery and charge-pump architecture: the 20V/6A input is converted to the lower voltage and high current required to charge the battery.

Super FlashCharge is backwards compatible with the FlashCharge protocol.

vivo and iQOO have close ties, and their products use the same FlashCharge and Super FlashCharge charging protocols.

Reaching the maximum VFCP charging power usually requires a proprietary charger and a cable with the appropriate current rating.

  • The FlashCharge 90W charger (USB-A - USB-C), in addition to the proprietary VFCP charging protocol, can also provide: UFCS 44W (5-11V/4A), QC 2.0 (5V, 9V), DCP.

  • The Super FlashCharge 120W charger (USB-C - USB-C), in addition to the proprietary VFCP charging protocol, can also provide: DCP, QC 2.0 (5V, 9V), PD 3.0 (5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/5A), PPS (5-20V/5A), UFCS 44W.

  • The Super FlashCharge 200W charger, in addition to the proprietary VFCP charging protocol, can also provide PD 3.0: 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/3.25A; PPS: 5-20V/3.25A.

  • The iQOO Neo9 Pro smartphone, in addition to FlashCharge (VFCP), also supports PD 3.0 (up to 35W), PD 3.0 PPS (up to 34W), and UFCS (up to 27W).

  • In addition to FlashCharge (VFCP), the iQOO Z10 Turbo Pro supports PPS up to 100W; testing with third-party 5A PPS chargers reached around 87W.

  • The vivo X90 Pro, in addition to FlashCharge (VFCP up to 100W), supports only PD (around 17W), with no PPS support.

  • In addition to FlashCharge, the vivo Y300 Pro supports VFCP up to 63W with a USB-A charger and 55W with a USB-C charger, PD at around 11W, PPS up to 35W, and UFCS up to 25W.

  • The vivo X100 Pro and X200 Pro smartphones, in addition to FlashCharge (VFCP), support PD (around 11W) and PPS (from 45W to 80W depending on the model).

  • vivo smartphones can use FlashCharge (VFCP) with proprietary chargers and standard 100W/240W USB-C cables. In this configuration, charging current is limited to around 5A and charging power can reach approximately 70W.
